PCI – semianthracite
Semianthracite is normally used as Pulverised Coal Injection (PCI). PCI coal is used for its heat value and injected directly into blast furnaces (without an intermediate coking phase) as a supplementary fuel, which reduces the amount of coke required and therefore costs.
PCI coal can also be used for thermal coal applications and as replacement for petcoke.
